Luxury “Favella” in the sky?

Sounds like an oxymoron but it’s coming to town!  NYC that is, at 56 Leonard street in Tribeca.  The Penthouse is going for $33 Million.  Designed by Herzog & de Meuron who also designed the National Stadium in Beijing or “The Bird’s Nest” as it was called during the Olympics this summer this building should be completed in 2010.

    i wanna live in a tetris block…

this is what you call, mind-fuck architecture.

    it’s like architectural porn!

and this is a coincidence, I was just reading about both buildings that you posted. this just makes my clandestine love affair with architecture even stronger. i like the “jenga” like layers of the structure. If I ever win the lottery, i’d buy a unit. but for now, it’s good to sit back and admire and window shop.

P, i’ll let you come borrow some sugar ;D

Biggest oxymoron ever. The words luxury and favela don’t even belong in the same sentence.

umm..i dunno…after 911…these types of buildings give me the scares…i would definately visit real quick but to live in…i would think twice. this is sort of living in the hills in l.a…..u have to drive in a very narrow street and in circles to get to the top or back down for like 20 minutes or so…not so convenient whenever u come back late at night home when ur tired. and then there’s no bodegas up the hills. i don’t get that. and as far as tall buildings…how about when the elevators doesnt work? it better work for 33 million dollars huh? damn skippy…and then i see a balcony up high…i know so many miserable rich people… i dunnoooOOooo…lol but if u gave me one of course i’ll take it and i would take back everything i just said! ha!
