Earth’s rotation

How about this for the news of the day!  The massive 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile may have changed the entire Earth’s rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet, a NASA scientist said Monday.  Read more here.

That is so freaking, seeing as how I was just watching 2012 last weekend. I like living by the beach, but now I’m beginning to wonder about mega tsunamis.

    soOo interesting!
the moons orbital rotation and displacement around the earth’s axis actually dictates the lenght of our days. every decade our days actually get longer by more than a fraction of a second (dnt no the #). so that means tht this quake could have reverted that mark to a certain extent, how cool.
~would there be life on earth if we did not have the moon?
